+ What type of school is Philip's?

Philip's Academy Charter School is a public, tuition-free charter school offering a comprehensive academic and ethical education for students in grades K-7.

+ What grades will be offered at the school?

Philip’s Academy Paterson opened in September 2016 and is currently accepting applications for grades K-7. Each succeeding year the school will add a grade level until it reaches grade eight.

+ What is the average class size?

The average class size for students in grades K-7 is 21 students.

+ When can I apply?

Applications for the 2023-24 academic year will be available online starting October 1st, 2022.

+ Do I need to complete a separate application for each of my chldren?

Yes. Each child needs his/her own application.

+ How will I know if my child has been accepted?

A public lottery will be held each year. Please call 973-247-8920 for more information. Families who applied are welcome to attend, but will not receive any preference as a result of appearing. After the lottery, all applicants will receive a letter of notification in the mail concerning your admission status or your waitlist number if you are not admitted for the 2023-2024 school year. Please note that the lottery results will also be posted on the school’s website following the lottery for future reference. Registration will be held in late March through April by appointment only.

+ Do the students wear uniforms?

Yes, a school uniform is required to be worn by all students. Here is a link to our Uniform Policy.

+ Does the school have safe drinking water?

In compliance with state requirements, the school performs routine lead testing of its drinking water on a three-year cycle; the most recent results can be found here. In addition to water fountains, water coolers are also provided at both sites to ensure students and staff always have access to water.
